jQuery Image Scroller Plugin creates a scrollable interface to scroll over a large image in a smaller area. The idea is that we have a container with a fixed height and width, an image that is taller than the container, and a container for the thumbnail of that image.

Once the plugin is applied, there is a span with a class of indicator appended to the small preview area which represents the area you can drag up and down.

jSquares is a jQuery plugin that pops up an image and a description in an overlay on hover. It is basically identical to the image grid found on www.ted.com. There are some parameters can be added when you call jSquares, e.g. caption size, opacity of the images, shuffle speed and etc. It works like a charm in IE6+, FF 3+, Safari 3+ and Opera 10.

We were all amazed by CU3ER which is a 3D Transitions Image Slider in Flash. We were particularly fascinated by the effect of slicing an image up to pieces, turning the elements and recreating a new image from it.

From that day on, Bj

We’ve all seen the basic file upload form for uploading avatars, images, memes, etc. The problem with these is that once you upload your image it’s hidden from you.

The solution is to use a little bit of JavaScript to upload the image as soon as it’s selected and display a thumbnail so we can easily review the form before we submit it. Head on over to the ZURB – Image Uploads with 100% Less Suck to see a complete demo and breakdown of the JavaScript they use to accomplish this.
